We saw Ezra Collective shine on the recently released compilation ‘We Out Here’ that presents the crème de la crème of the contemporary London jazz scene. ‘We Out Here’ assembled – under the direction of Gilles Peterson and Shabaka Hutchings – good folk like tenor saxophonist Nubya Garcia, Sons of Kemet and Moses Boyd. Amongst them, Ezra Collective stood out for their mix of spiritual jazz, afrobeat and hip-hop. So it’s no surprise then that they will serve as live backing band for rapper Pharoahe Monch. We recently saw the release of their EP ‘Juan Pablo: The Philosopher’, which was mixed by Floating Points. Opener will be piano trio Steiger, from Ghent. De Morgen: ‘Met hun lekker stugge grooves en minimalistische inkleding nestelden de heren zich links van SCHNTZL en rechts van De Beren Gieren.’
